Marigold Window Textile
Marigold Window Textile
Ochre is such a beautiful color and ancient.
It’s pretty amazing that humans have been using this natural mineral for at least 300,000 years. Yarn isn’t as old, but still has been used for a long time too, about 20,000 years.
The Marigold wall hanging is made of three panels. It was custom made for a NYC apartment where the windows are on the opposite side of the entrance corridor. The idea was to bring the natural light to the corridor.
I describe my practice as inside and outside. For this textile, I used marigolds from my garden as a point of departure. Marigolds are a great plant to add to any garden. They're great companions that repel pests and also attract beneficial insects. Their flowers and colors are beautiful.
