Happy Place
It took me some time to get here, but I finally made it to one of my happy places.
Every spring, I refresh the raised beds with new soil and compost. This is a quality workout and time. 😊
I planted lettuces, spinach, bok choy, dill, and a new experiment in the garden, radicchio. I mixed them with what was growing in the garden already - green onions, garlic, peas, parsley, and chives.
Time in the garden is also time to look closely. Self-seeding annuals and perennials plants are slowly showing up. The arugula is growing in various places because the seeds travel all over the place. It’s so easy to grow. The chamomile, kale, tarragon, and borage seem to be happy growing back together at the same pace.
There are so many benefits of getting your hands dirty in the garden. The microbes in the soil increase our serotonin (happy hormone) levels and so does fresh air, vitamin D, and sunshine.
Time in a happy and peaceful place is a must. Where is/are yours? I have a few that I visit as often as I can - the loom, my bike, and yoga mat are among them.
