Studio View: March

March is the changing gears month as the weather changes and the garden slowly wakes up. I visit the garden all year long no matter how cold it’s outside, but the spring is a special time to look closely.

As a gardener, once I notice tiny chives growing back, it means that the spring is near. I love to plant chives everywhere. They have the most beautiful lavender flowers. The bees love them too.

As a weaver with a studio in a sun room, I notice how March’s sunlight illuminates the loom differently from the winter’s sunlight.

Like the slow pace of plants in the garden, the loom’s pace is slow too, but we keep moving forward.
